Today we are going to tell you about Google’s newest innovation: a self-driving bicycle to be introduced in the Netherlands.
The Dutch cycle more than any other nation in the world, almost 900 kilometres per year per person, amounting to over 15 billion kilometres annually. The self-driving bicycle enables safe navigation through the city for Amsterdam residents, and furthers Google’s ambition to improve urban mobility with technology.
In a video released by Google, the company has taken the technology that’s already being used for developing self-driving cars and apply it to bicycles to improve road safety in the Netherlands.
As an upgrade to the technology used in Google’s self-driving cars, the bicycle will have two additional features; you can order it to pick you up from your location using a GPS system, and the bike pedals can be set to automatically adjust to a perfect resting position.
The self-driving bicycle has been quoted by experts to be the greatest invention since the bicycle itself.
